Olam Advocacy ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Advocacy Toolkit (the "App"), which includes our website, AI-powered tools, surveys, and quizzes. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the App.

Information Collection and Use

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App depends on the content and materials you use, and includes:

Personal Data

While using our App, particularly interactive tools like quizzes or AI-powered strategists, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information ("Personal Data") that can be used to identify you or provide context for the services. This may include:

  • Contextual Information for AI Tools: Data you provide about your community, jurisdiction, advocacy goals, or survey responses for tools like the AI Lobbying Strategist or Survey Summarizer. This information is used solely to generate the requested output for you and is not stored long-term in an identifiable manner unless explicitly stated for a feature requiring saved state (e.g., user accounts, which are not currently implemented).
  • Contact Information (Optional): If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.

Usage Data

We may automatically collect information when you access and use the App ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our App that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data. This data is generally anonymized or aggregated and used for analytics to improve our App.

How We Use Your Information

Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the App to:

  • Operate and maintain the App, including our AI tools and quizzes.
  • Provide you with the services and outputs you request from our tools.
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our App and its offerings.
  • Understand and analyze how you use our App for development and enhancement purposes.
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and provide customer service (if you contact us).
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the App.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your Personal Data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations:

  • With Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work (e.g., cloud hosting for AI models, analytics services). These third parties are obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes for which it was disclosed. For our AI-powered tools, the data you input is sent to AI model providers (e.g., Google AI via Genkit) to generate a response. Their use of your data is governed by their respective privacy policies.
  • By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
  • Aggregated or Anonymized Data: We may share aggregated or anonymized information that does not directly identify you with third parties for research, analysis, or other purposes.

Data Retention

We will retain your information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law. Data submitted to AI tools for one-time processing (like survey summarization or lobbying strategy generation) is generally not retained by us beyond the session required to provide you with the output, unless a feature explicitly allows for saving (which is not a current feature).

Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
  • The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate or complete information you believe is incomplete.
  • The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us at our email: olamresearch@gmail.com.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to access or store information. Specific information about how we use such technologies and how you can refuse certain cookies is set out in our (future) Cookie Policy. Currently, our use is minimal and primarily for essential App functionality and basic analytics.

Security of Your Data

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. Any information disclosed online is vulnerable to interception and misuse by unauthorized parties.

Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

Links to Other Websites

Our App may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
